Lead Renovation, Repair, and Painting

Description
Any contractor performing work that may disturb lead-based paint in residential, child-care, and/or educational facilities build before 1978 must be EPA certified and observe specific related guidelines that prevent lead contamination.

The EPA RRP Rule affects anyone paid to perform work in housing and child occupied facilities build before 1978. They include:

  • Building Superintendents
  • Home improvement/renovation contractors
  • HVAC Support Staff
  • Carpenters/Dry Wall Mechanics
  • Painters, Electricians, Plumbers
  • Maintenance Technicians
  • Appliance Installers
  • Window and Siding Installers
  • Any workers removing and modifying paint surfaces

This federally-mandated class prepaers contractors to comply with EPA's RRP Rule on Lead-Safe Work Practices. Training modules highlight containment activites, regulations, record keeping, and training non-certified renovation workers.

The hands-on containment and cleanup activities provide participants with methods to limit the amount of dust created on a job site and how to contain and clean up any dust that is created.
