Management Writing
Description:
Need a refresher course for the new modes of communication in today's world? Email, smartphones, and the pace of business have changed the way we communicate.
This hands-on class teaches participants how to produce technical documents such as informal and formal reports, presentations, emails, memos and other workplace correspondence. Participants learn strategies for designing documents that meet audience needs by considering their goals, readers, main message, context, and expression/tone. The workshop begins with strategies for analyzing the writing situation and making decisions based on time, competing priorities, and media, such as email, Blackberry, Powerpoint, or company letterhead. Next, participants learn methods to organize documents for logic and readability. Finally, participants learn strategies for reviewing and revising their own work and that of their peers to ensure a document's main message is clear, includes logical connections between key points, contains accurate information, and represents the organization professionally.
